What is it?
A supported dinner group, is a place where people struggling with an eating disorder can come and eat dinner once a week. Similar to a fellowship meeting, it is designed to provide the necessary support for people struggling with an eating disorder and enable them to be able to do the thing they find hardest.
Who is it for?
This is for anybody suffering with an Eating Disorder who has either just come out of treatment, has never been in treatment, has been recently diagnosed and is struggling, or has been suffering for quite some time. For anyone who is motivated to want to recover and needs a place to go to, to enable them to eat.
Where will it be held?
It will be held at Brighter Spaces therapy rooms in Guildford.
What does it entail?
The club will be 1 Hour in duration, food will be provided, and details of the menu/food given to clients before the group. All intolerances/dislikes will be catered for.
The group will involve sitting in a room around a table and having dinner. Before we start eating, we will go around the group and have everyone check in with how they feel emotionally and a physical feeling in regard to hunger. The purpose of this being to allow clients to express how they feel and try to connect with their own innate hunger cues – something that isn’t always present or acted upon when struggling with an Eating Disorder. At the end of the meal, again we will go around the group asking how everyone is feeling emotionally and physically.
How much will it be?
It will cost £25.
When is it?
It will be held on Tuesday evenings 7-8pm. If you’re interested in attending, please get in contact, so I can cater for numbers: firstname.lastname@example.org
