Sophie Sheffield
Hello I'm Sophie, and I would love to support you in overcoming your eating and body image difficulties. I offer a compassionate, non-judgemental and motivational space for my client's to move towards a fulfilling and meaningful life. I highly specialise in helping people who want to overcome binge eating or yo-yo dieting, moving to body acceptance and building self-esteem and confidence. I believe it’s important to understand and process the underlying emotional difficulties that lead to disordered eating and aim for my clients to feel empowered to move on from therapy with valuable skills and resources to manage life’s challenges. Having lived experience of these difficulties myself, I can empathise with the battle and I am passionate about offering a safe and effective therapeutic experience that is person-centred and culturally sensitive. I am an experienced and BABCP accredited CBT therapist and EMDR practitioner, with nearly a decade of experience working with people struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma and eating disorders. I continue to work in the NHS at the Maudsley Eating Disorders Outpatients Service alongside my private practice. Thank you to a previous client for these words on her therapy with me: I honestly couldn’t recommend Sophie highly enough. I was so stuck and in such a dark place, escaping my ED just seemed utterly impossible but it felt like she just held my hand and carefully walked me out of it.” If you would like a chat with me to consider working together, do reach out for a free no-obligation call.

Thank you to my previous clients for giving me permission to share some of their experiences of therapy with me:
"I was so stuck and in such a dark place, escaping my ED just seemed utterly impossible but it felt like she just held my hand and carefully walked me out of it"
"Sophie made me realise things about myself and the reason I had issues with food and myself in such a short space of time meaning we could focus on fixing those issues / finding other coping mechanisms relatively quickly. I looked forward to my sessions each week and after every session a previous memory that was painful became lighter."
"Sophie's compassionate guidance as my CBT therapist during my struggles with an eating disorder has been life-changing for me. Her deep understanding of the complexities of this condition, combined with her encouragement, unwavering support, and warmth, has helped me on a journey towards recovery with a newfound understanding of myself."
