Sharon Baker

Making the decision to start counselling and psychotherapy is a big one, so firstly congratulations on making your first step in the process. Finding a therapist who you feel comfortable with is important. I offer a free 30 minute initial phone call for you to get a sense of me, to talk through the therapy process, what you would like to achieve from therapy, whether we are able to achieve this together and ask any questions you may have.

I am a qualified counsellor and hold a diploma in Transactional Analysis from The Berne Institute. I am continuing my development in Advanced Psychotherapy training in Transactional Analysis. I also have a certificate in working with eating disorders and obesity from The Link Centre.

Member of Professional Body

I have the appropriate registration with UKATA (UK Association for Transactional Analysis) and EATA (European Association for Transactional Analysis) and adhere to their code of ethics.

Registered Member of BACP.

Referral Criteria & Process

Initially we will arrange a free 30 minute telephone call to for you to get a sense of me, to talk through the therapy process, what you would like to achieve from therapy, whether we are able to achieve this together and ask any questions you may have. You can arrange this either by telephoning me or by email. I aim to respond to all emails within 48 hours of receipt.

There is no pressure at the end of that call to book an appointment. It's really important you take the time you need to decide and choose the right therapist for you. If we do decide to work together, then we will go ahead and book a first appointment. If I am unable to see you I will be able to signpost you on to another service if you would like.

Age Groups: (19-25) (25+)
Fees: Yes

£40 per 1 hour session.

One of my beliefs as a counsellor and trainee psychotherapist, is that therapy should be accessible and affordable to those who need it, therefore I offer 3 spaces in my practice at a reduced rate. These spaces are open to full time students or anyone who has been financially affected by COVID-19. You will not be required to provide any proof of your financial situation.

The reduced rate fee is £30 per hour and is for a limited period of 1 year. If after this time, you would still like to continue sessions and your financial situation remains the same, we can negotiate an alternative for example, sessions move to the normal rate but are fortnightly instead of weekly.

If £30 per hour is outside of your budget, depending on your situation, there are still options available to you. We can negotiate an alternative such as fortnightly sessions instead of weekly or a lower weekly rate for a shorter time period.
