Politician Advisory Service
Getting in touch with an elected representative may not be something you've thought about before, and it can feel a little daunting. They are there to represent you, however, and can help with a wide range of issues, including those that affect your health and wellbeing.
Contacting your elected representative can sometimes encourage your GP, Health Trust or Board, or eating disorder service to reconsider decisions about your care. They are able to raise concerns on your behalf, ask questions, and request that decisions are reviewed.
While elected representatives usually have a strong understanding of the communities they serve, they may not always know the best way to challenge decisions about eating disorder treatment. That's where we can help. We provide them with the information, resources and guidance they need to advocate effectively for the care you deserve.
Our goal is straightforward: to ensure that anyone who has been unfairly refused a referral, assessment, evidence-based treatment, or clear information has that decision reviewed and, where appropriate, changed as quickly as possible.
We achieve this by supporting elected representatives with the relevant clinical guidance and evidence, enabling them to raise concerns confidently and challenge decisions in an effective way.
