Training

After qualifying as a therapeutic counsellor I have trained extensively in working with various forms of eating disorders and disordered eating.

The training that I undertook with NCFED was largely based on the use of CBT methods and the science of nutrition, while the training with prof. Julia Buckroyd was informed by the attachment theory.

More recently I have completed MA in Professional Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, which has helped me integrate my practice, which is now informed by more recent developments in relational psychoanalysis, trauma therapy, Internal Family Systems and neuroscience.

My flexible, integrative approach allows me to tailor my work to fit the client's needs. I am able to look at the client and their difficulties holistically, and to help them identify and address what keeps the disorder going now, as well as to explore and understand the roots of their difficulties.

Experience

I have over 15 years of working with adults and adolescents, from a variety of backgrounds and with a vast range of issues, which include depression, anxiety, stress, loss, bereavement, trauma, eating disorders, obesity, body image issues, low self esteem and relationship problems, among others.

Before setting up in my private practice, my professional psychotherapy and counselling experience included working within a GP surgery, a mental health charity, a private clinic specialising in Eating Disorders, with the elderly clients and with clients affected by HIV.
