Kym is a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and holds a Masters Degree in Working with People with Eating Disorders and Body Image Disturbance from the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. She is an Associate Member of the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists and a registered member of the BACP.

Kym has specialised in working with people with Eating Disorders since 2005. She has extensive experience of working in and with the NHS and was previously the Clinical Lead of SWEDA - Somerset and Wessex Eating Disorders Association.

Having recovered from an eating disorder herself, Kym is passionate about empowering other sufferers to fully recover. Kym focusses on clients holistically, and seeks to include the experience of body, mind and soul in to the therapeutic work that she does. She draws on the latest behavioural and positive psychology, neuroscience, ancient wisdom, mindfulness and creativity in her work. Kym is an advocate for the Positive Body Image Movement.

While having recovered herself, Kym recognises that every persons pathway to recovery is unique. Although she uses her own experiences to inform her practice, and can draw on her powerful insights she also has an ability to see and attune to her clients in a way which supports their own individual journeys.

Kym offers one to one psychotherapeutic counselling as well as a range of other supportive and creative services, groups and workshops. Kym also offers training and supervision to other professionals working with people with eating disorders.

Referral Criteria & Process

I prefer to take self referrals but I am happy to take referrals from and work with GP's and In-Patient settings.

My training has been integrative, meaning that I can draw from a wide variety of models to offer a holistic approach to working with clients. I regularly use Transpersonal, CBT, Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Psychoanalytic, Mindfulness and Compassion Focused models in my work, as well as many others. My aim is to work with each client as an individual and create an active therapeutic experience that works for them.
