Kel O'Neill
I am a BACP Registered and Accredited Counsellor / Psychotherapist, as well as an Educator specialising in Eating Disorders. My primary training is as an Integrative Counsellor, with a humanistic perspective as my base. I intended regular and ongoing CPD (training and conference) and have completed training in CBT-E, MANTRA and more (for a full list please see my website). I support clients to explore and make sense of what has brought them to this point and what is keeping them stuck in their Eating Disorders, as well as supporting them (you!) to take steps to challenge and break free from your Eating Disorder. Common features of my work are psycho-education, and aiding you to develop a sense of self, purpose and meaning beyond the Eating Disorder. However, working integrativly means that I am flexible and fluid in my approach; working TOGETHER with you to create a therapy experience that helps you to take steps in recovery. I strongly believe that recovery from your Eating Disorder is possible having supported many on this journey over the years. As a result of the pandemic all my sessions are now held online – this has generally been peoples ongoing preference as it allows you to access therapy with me wherever in the UK you might be and without the need to travel. This can also be particularly helpful for clients who might me due to move away for university but want to keep working with the same professional. As a Counsellor I can work with you whether you have a diagnosed Eating Disorder or not. This means that I have no strict criteria for referral. I believe strongly that if you are experience emotionally distress you deserve the care and support you need irrespective of diagnoses or label. Please be aware that because Eating Disorders are associated with high physical risk I will require you to me receiving regularly medical care from your GP (or similar professional)to make sure that those needs are also monitored. I work with clients age 16+
