Huntercombe Hospital Stafford is a specialist child and adolescent mental health hospital for young people of both genders aged 12-18 years with either an eating disorder or other diagnosed mental illness. Within our eating disorder service, we offer inpatient treatment for up to 15 young people with severe Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and related Eating Disorders.  The hospital is set in a rural location but just a five minute drive from junction 12 of the M6 motorway.   

Referral Criteria & Process

We accept referrals from NHS consultants from all over the UK and sometimes from abroad.  For the majority of our patients, their stay at our hospital is funded by NHS England.

The Huntercombe Hospital Stafford has been helping young people with eating disorders since 2003 so we know that while the journey to recovery can be challenging it is possible. 
Our eating disorders team is a highly skilled and experienced multi-disciplinary team, allowing individuals and their families' access to staff with a variety of skills and professional backgrounds.  Our clinical team is headed by a Consultant Psychiatrist and comprises associate specialists, specialist dietitian and chefs, social workers, teachers, activities therapists, nurses, health care support workers, occupational therapist and assistants, psychologists and assistants, family therapist, and drug and alcohol therapists. 
Our specialist treatment programme, tailored to each patient's individual requirements is one of the leading services of its type in the UK with a proven track record of working successfully with young people, in particular those with the most severe eating disorders.  Our treatment programme emphasises the role that the family plays in helping the young person to achieve both physical and emotional recoveries.
