I am a chartered consultant clinical psychologist, with over 35 years eating disorder experience of delivering systemic therapy and other forms of counselling to adults, young people, children and families. I retired from the NHS five years ago, and am now established in private practice. Systemic approaches to psychological therapies regard the client not just as an individual but as a member of one or more of the groups to which they belong: perhaps, for example, their family, their friendship circle, their workplace and their communities. I help people to explore their eating and body image difficulties in the context of their lived experiences, cultural heritages and significant relationships. Wherever appropriate, I undertake family group therapy by seeing clients alongside their parents, partners and/or children, and sometimes their friends.I have a longstanding interest in undertaking therapeutic work with eating disorder clients with diagnoses often considered unsuitable for talking treatments, such as those of long-standing mental illnesses and personality disorders. Many of my clients struggle with eating disorders alongside a range of other physical and mental health challenges.
Please phone, text or email me to self-refer or simply to find out more. I am happy to talk to parents who would like me to see their children
