Our service is known as CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) and is provided by staff from a range of different professional backgrounds, all experienced in working with families, children and young people who need help in dealing with a variety of health and mental health problems. Our service also includes staff who have specific experience and training in working with children and young people with Learning Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Referrals to our service come from a variety of different professionals including schools, GPs, paediatricians, educational psychologists, nurses and community social workers. They will probably have discussed this referral with you before they got in touch with our department.
Our team includes people who have trained as Clinical and Child Psychologists, Psychiatrists, Nurses, Art Psychotherapists and Social Workers. In addition many people have undertaken additional training, for example in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Family Therapy, or EMDR (a specialist intervention for trauma). Occasionally we have trainees on placement with us. They will be supervised by a qualified member of the team.Tell us if this listing needs updating
