Central London Group for adults with an Eating Disorder
This London-based self help group is for adults who have, or have had, an eating disorder such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, or related difficulties who are seeking support. It is an open group, which means some people attend regularly while others come as and when they are able. The group offers a supportive, non-judgemental space to explore feelings, recovery hopes, and personal challenges. We aim to foster connection, understanding, and encouragement among people with shared lived experience.
The group has been running for decades and was previously part of the EDA Self Help Network and worked in Partnership with BEAT. Four experienced trained volunteers facilitate it: Sue, Sergio, Kirsty, and Rachel. Together, they bring close to 60 years of combined experience supporting people with eating disorders. We have a group of associate facilitators drawn from within the group who help support the running of the group. All facilitators are volunteers.
Dr Susan (Sue) Dixon is the primary contact for the group. She is a practising MBACP (accredited)psychotherapist/counsellor and holds a PhD in psychology, with her doctoral research focusing on eating disorder self help groups, social value, and recovery.
