With many years of experience working in an NHS Eating Disorders Unit in North London, I also work privately with individuals who have eating difficulties, ranging from Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge-eating Disorder and problems that may not fit neatly into any of these categories. I offer once weekly sessions aimed at understanding the emotional difficulties and relationship styles underlying the eating behaviour, and developing new, more healthy ways of relating to food, the body - and life in general. My practice is based in EC1, but I also offer sessions in North London from time to time. I offer video-call sessions via zoom, skype or webex.
During the current COVID-19 pandemic, many people are finding it hard to cope and find that unhelpful ways of relating to food, weight and the body are becoming more intense. Perhaps such patterns feel like a safe, familiar refuge from distressing feelings about a situation over which we have little control: about social isolation, the challenge of working remotely or not at all, difficult dynamics between family members or house-mates, or a general unease about what the future might bring. It is particularly important at this time to talk about your feelings and difficulties, and though we can't meet face to face at the moment I am offering sessions by phone, zoom or instant messaging - whatever you feel most comfortable with. Just contact me by voice message or email and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
