Adult Eating Disorders Service - Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust

Our eating disorder service offers a range of specialist treatments and support to people with severe eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.

Patients have access to a broad range of treatments which is supported by a range of psychological therapies as appropriate to the service user's needs.

The service is for people (aged 16+ in Solihull and 25+ in Birmingham) who have severe and/or complex cases of eating disorders that require specialist treatment such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder.

In addition, we will consider assessing service users with partial syndromes of the above disorders if service users are markedly distressed or functionally limited.

Referral Criteria & Process

Referrals to the service are accepted from any relevant professional including:

  • GPs (in an emergency)

  • General adult psychiatric services

  • Community services

  • Child and adolescent mental health services
